You have the right to remain silent.... Like most Americans, there are all manner of horrible things I would love to do to this Bin Laden fella. Notwithstanding the fact that he is hiding in a heavily fortified hole half a world away surrounded by a thousand armed fanatics, and, fortunately for me, a fat old fart with a limp doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of ever actually getting close to him, I'd like to uncork Rambo I thru IV on his nasty ass. The problem is, if I was standing in front of him right now with a gun in my hand, the only thing I could actually do is inform him that he has the right to remain silent… that he has the right to an attorney during questioning… and that if he desires and cannot afford one…. (you know the drill). You see, I'm kinda hung up on that "We the People" thing. I have a deep and abiding belief in the principles upon which this country was founded, and I am not kindly disposed to compromising those beliefs under any circumstances. Note: This does not, however, preclude praying that he resisted arrest. |
